The Southern Westchester BOCES Center for Adult & Community Services proudly participated in Westchester County's Hispanic Heritage Festival on July 12 at Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla. Representatives joined thousands of residents for a day of culture, community and celebration.

The festival featured authentic cuisine, live music, dance performances, arts and crafts and opportunities for residents to connect with local organizations and resources.

Throughout the day, Center for Adult & Community Services staff welcomed visitors to the Southern Westchester BOCES information booth, where they shared information about educational opportunities available to adult learners and families across the region.

Attendees learned about English language learning programs, high school equivalency preparation, workforce development opportunities and other services designed to help individuals achieve their personal, educational and career goals.

"The Hispanic Heritage Festival provides a wonderful opportunity to meet people where they are and connect them with educational opportunities that can transform lives," said Maria Guerrero, Supervisor of Adult Education at SWBOCES. "Our programs are designed to support learners from all backgrounds, and events like this allow us to build relationships within the communities we serve while celebrating the rich cultures that make Westchester County such a vibrant place to live and learn."

The festival also highlighted the importance of community partnerships, bringing together cultural organizations, advocacy groups, educational institutions and local businesses in a welcoming and family-friendly environment.

Participation in community events such as the Hispanic Heritage Festival reflects Southern Westchester BOCES' ongoing commitment to serving the diverse needs of the Lower Hudson Valley and ensuring residents have access to pathways for lifelong learning and personal growth.

Staff members enjoyed meeting families, answering questions and sharing information about the many programs available through the Center for Adult & Community Services.
