Students at the Center for Career Services were recognized for their commitment to skilled career pathways during SkillsUSA National Signing Day, held the morning of May 20, 2026.
The annual event, part of a nationwide celebration, honors the next generation of skilled professionals as they formally commit to careers in high-demand fields. At the Center for Career Services, 27 students were recognized in front of administrators, teachers, advisors, family members, and peers as they signed letters of intent to pursue their chosen paths.
“We want to thank our community for supporting SkillsUSA National Signing Day,” said advisor Melissa Sayegh, one of the program’s advisors at Career Services. “It was great to see our students recognized.”

The ceremony highlighted the wide range of opportunities available through career and technical education, from post-secondary education to direct entry into the workforce and military service.
The program began with remarks from SkillsUSA student leaders and members of the Southern Westchester BOCES administration, emphasizing the importance of workforce readiness and the value of skilled trades in today’s economy. The students heard from guest speaker, Michael Vetere of Lincoln Technical Institute, and SkillsUSA Area IV Administrator Trustee Jaclyn De Lao (Career Services’ principal), before emcee Anchelle Allen, a program advisor, helped recognized students individually by program area.
Among those honored were students entering fields such as construction, collision, cosmetology, culinary arts, emergency medical services, nursing assistant, office skills, animal science, and security, law, and policiing.
Each student’s commitment reflects both their dedication and the growing demand for skilled professionals across industries.
The event also underscored the partnerships between the Center for Career Services and local industry leaders, which help provide students with real-world experience and employment opportunities upon graduation.
