The Southern Westchester BOCES 2026-2027 administrative budget was adopted unanimously by component district school boards on April 21, 2026, a resounding vote of confidence in the value of programs provided to districts and the responsiveness and commitment to excellence of the SWBOCES team.
The $14.19 million spending plan reflects a 3.8 percent spending increase over the current year that is mainly driven by increases in health care costs for retirees.
“This achievement is a powerful reflection of the confidence our districts have in the work we do every day. It speaks volumes about our teams’ commitment to excellence, responsiveness to district needs, and unwavering focus on student success,” District Superintendent Dr. Harold A. Coles said.
Three individuals were elected to the SWBOCES Board of Education, one new and two returning members, also by unanimous vote.
Incumbent trustees Sheryl Brady (White Plains) and Nilesh Jain (Edgemont) were reelected. For Ms. Brady, this will be her third three-year term commencing July 1, 2026. For Mr. Jain, it will be his second. Nan Eileen Mead (Scarsdale) was elected to a three-year term, replacing Trustee Eileen Miller (Pelham), who chose not to seek another term.
The budget was presented at the BOCES Annual Meeting, pictured above, on April 8, 2026, at the Center for Career Services campus in Valhalla. The meeting welcomed representatives of component school districts and was also attended by the SWBOCES Board of Education and district leadership.
