Drumming for Fitness workshop
Members of the SWBOCES Physical Education and Health Consortium took part in several K-5 "Drumming for Fitness" routines during a workshop supervised by Assistant Director of Professional Development Dr. Michele Darby.
Drumming for Fitness uses a combination of current and classic songs as a source of inspiration to move to the music, according to the workshop description. This new fitness experience combines dancing, drumming, and a great cardiovascular endurance workout. Participants learn several choreographed routines to take back to their classes immediately.
"Best conference that I've ever seen here," wrote one participant afterward. "Informative and highly resourceful."
"Suzanne did a wonderful job presenting this interesting unit," another added. "Lots of good ideas to add to a dance unit or start a standalone drumming unit."
