Tappan Hill students prepare backpack donations

students stuff school supply donations into backpacksStudents at Tappan Hill Elementary School filled backpacks with school supplies for distribution to students in need as part of a three-way collaboration between Southern Westchester BOCES’ Center for Special Services, the Guidance Center of Westchester and Ivy Rehabilitation in Harrison.

The students from the Middle and High School classes at the Tappan Hill School participate in a  Vocational Services Program. (See more pictures of this work at right.)

The goal of the program is designed to prepare  students to one day enter the   force and to help them become productive members of their communities.  The students receives jobs from various community outreach programs in which they fulfill the jobs in a timely manner. Through this program the students are able to develop their independence and develop job skills which will better prepare them to live more fulfilling lives.
