Third Annual Cookie Bake-Off at Rye Lake
Rye Lake Celebrates the Season with Cookie Competition
The competition was stiff for the third annual Rye Lake Cookie Bake-Off Dec. 20. The contestants’ creations ran the gamut from jam thumbprint and chocolate chip cookies to gingerbread, black and whites and sugar cookies in the shape of Christmas trees, candy canes and stars. Staff members and students sampled the 17 entries and voted for their favorites. The school kept an electronic running tally of the votes during the competition
The winner was Michelle Carpiniello, an administrative staff member at the Rye Lake Campus, who entered her S’mores Cookies. Chef Omar Laaraj came in second place with his almond cookie and received a mini Pillsbury Doughboy as a prize. Teacher Andrea Costello, who was last year’s victor, came in third place this year with Martha Stewart’s Chocolate Crackle Cookies. She passed the trophy she won last year to Ms. Carpiniello.
After the winners were announced, staff members gave out gift bags to all the students.
