Students Apply for Variety of Summer Jobs at Playland Parks

Forty-two students from several programs at the Center for Career Services turned out to a special Career Fair organized by Playland Park March 28.

Several members of Playland’s Human Resources Department handed out applications to the students for potential summer employment. They then interviewed each of them.

The opportunity was made possible through a special collaborative partnership established by Work-Based Learning Coordinator Evangelo Michas, who met with representatives of the Human Resources Dept. last year.

“The classroom teachers and I spoke to the students beforehand about the benefits of working for Playland,” explained Mr. Michas. “If they had any further questions, they were answered during the interview process.”

Approximately 40 students were offered jobs that day.

This is the second year that BOCES students have availed of this opportunity. Students from the Architecture & Interior Design, Auto Tech, Culinary Arts, Emergency Medical Services and Office Skills programs participated, in addition to special needs students enrolled in the General Maintenance class.
