The Regional Certification Service functions as an extension of the New York State Education Department's Office of Teaching. The Regional Certification Office provides advisement and counseling to subscribing districts and their community residents on matters relating to New York State Certification, including collaboration with the education department on behalf of subscribing school districts.
In addition, the Regional Certification Office provides evaluation of transcripts for certification in most areas, review and processing of applicant's required credentials determination of individual certification status for employees and community members of participating districts.
The office also provides access to the Statewide Clearinghouse for Teacher Recruitment to assist school districts in the recruitment of school professionals and consultation with chief school administrators and other district administrative staff.
