Students to Gain Valuable Work Experience in Music/Sound Industry
Studying is one thing but getting real hands-on experience is another, which is what three students in the SWBOCES Music/Sound Production Program will be doing over the next few months as they hone their skills and gain valuable experience from training programs at a number of local companies.
Christopher Knights of Ardsley High School is a senior who will be graduating in mid-May and starting an externship at Rye Public Access, otherwise known as Rye TV.
Dylan Taplin, a sophomore at Irvington High School, is already working as an unpaid intern at Beacon Sound Works Studios, a recording and rehearsal studio in Beacon. Dylan will continue to work there for the next couple of months.
Tyree Brewton, a sophomore at New Rochelle High School and a first-year student in the Music/Sound Production Program, “came in with a passion for music,” said instructor Sean Harty, which has paid off with a paid internship at KVL Audio Visual in Yonkers.
KVL is a production and staging company providing design, installation, trade show and tech services throughout the country.
