  • To use the local press and the internet to determine the dates for the Hispanic Heritage Month

  • To learn and describe the elements and participants in an Hispanic Day Parade

Suggested Topics

  • Flag identification
  • Dance traditions
  • Local Hispanic Day Parades
  • The Hispanic Day Parade in New York City

Suggested Activities

  • Use the public library, English and Spanish language newspapers, and the internet to research parade dates
  • Attend a parade and write a journal of impressions
  • Students from various countries will explain the significance of costumes, music, etc., to their classmates
