ADVANTAGES

The advantages of enrolling at the Center for Career Services' Career & Technical Education Program include our smaller classroom sizes, our attention to the individual needs of students, and the development of specific job skills. Our students can also earn college credits and land internships in their areas of interest.

College Credit

Did you know students can earn from 3 to 15 college credits while still in high school? SWBOCES has 47 articulation agreements with two and four year colleges that allow you to earn advanced college credit.

This saves time and money as well as provides the opportunity to advance to higher level courses so you eliminate the duplication of work.

That's why over 55% of our graduates go on to post-secondary education.

Job Placement

Surveys of students who complete our programs each year show 95% successful placement in employment, post-secondary education, or the military.   Counselors at the Center for Career Services provide placement and follow-up services.   Reference materials and guest speakers on careers, colleges, and training opportunities are available to all students.

Internships

At SWBOCES, in addition to workplace standard labs and shops, students participate in many work-based learning experiences that include:
  • field trips
  • job shadowing
  • clinical experiences
  • internships

All seniors can complete a mentored internship at a business site where they learn what the workplace is really like in their chosen career. All internships include a training plan related to their career and technical education program and developed by the student. Many students find job placements through these internships.
