Career Services Holds Open House
The SWBOCES Center for Career Services opened its doors to the public on April 5, on the occasion of its annual Open House. Prospective and current students and parents toured the Valhalla campus to learn more about the career and technical education program offered there.
On hand to speak to visitors were students and instructors in the SWBOCES Culinary Arts, Multimedia, Commercial Art, TV/Media and other programs. Tours also were provided to parents interested in the Basic Occupational Education Program, which serves special education students. Administrators and teachers from the SWBOCES Alternative Education Program also were on hand to answer questions about the Alternative High School and the BOCES GED program.
In a conference room on the campus, SWBOCES students enrolled in the Cosmetology program participated in a hairstyling competition, and in the Fashion Design and Merchandising classroom, students participated in a sewing competition in which they tried their hand at a variety of specific stitches.
