Admission Requirements
Alternative High School Students must be at least 16 years old, test at a minimum reading level of 8.0, and be in grades 10, 11 or 12.
Students enrolling in the GED Program must be at least 16 years old and attain a minimum score of 8.0 in reading and math, based on testing administered by Southern Westchester BOCES.
To enroll in either program, students must contact their High School guidance counselor. The home High School will contact the BOCES alternative program guidance counselor about admission, then the appropriate paperwork, records and testing will be acquired and administered by BOCES. The BOCES staff will schedule an intake interview with the student, the parent or guardian, the BOCES counselor and the school principal. GED students will not be allowed to graduate from our Alternative Education programs earlier than they would from a traditional four-year High School.
