Alternative High School
At our Alternative High School, we serve non-classified students who have not been successful in a traditional high school setting. The full-day schedule consists of academic and career and technical education classes, where our students receive instruction and guidance in required academic courses and exams that will lead to the acquisition of a Regents/High School Diploma.
| COURSES
Students enrolled in the Alternative High School take the following academic classes:
- English
Students take:
English 10
English 11
English 12.
They are also offered half-year elective English classes, such as Poetry and/or Film Studies.
- Social Studies
Students take Global History 10, U.S. History, Economics & Government, and a variety of electives such as Law.

Students take Math A, Math B, and College Math.

Science
Students take the Regents Living Environment and Earth Science courses. Additional classes are offered, such as Science in Society and/or Environmental Science.

Credits and Exams
In the Alternative High School Program, students can earn up to 9 credits each year toward graduation. Credits and diplomas are awarded by their home school. They complete the required units of study and are recommended for graduation by the BOCES administration. Students take all their Regents exams at the Alternative High School.
