Southern Westchester BOCES Board of Education members are elected by and accountable to our component school boards. Like the local boards, the Southern Westchester BOCES Board is a policy making body. Its seven members serve 3-year terms with no compensation.

 Mission Statement

To collaborate with districts, agencies and communities to meet their educational challenges by providing regional leadership and cost effective, high quality services.

1. To prepare a vision statement for the BOCES that reflects the future direction of our school communities and student needs.

2. In keeping with the understanding that SWBOCES is an extension of our component school districts, and in keeping with the obligation to maintain a safe, secure an adequate learning facility, a multi-year facilities plan will be maintained and reviewed bi-annually.

3. As school board leaders, every effort will be made to improve communications with component districts, educate the districts on the benefits of a BOCES and build strong relationships through engagement.

4. As leaders of the SWBOCES, we will continue to strengthen our knowledge and understanding of our BOCES programs through interaction with the staff, students and districts to better guide our future decisions.

5. Given that the fiscal health of the BOCES is critical to its function and understanding the fiscal constraints of our current economy, we will continue to monitor our general functions while seeking opportunities for new revenues and ideas that enhance our cost effectiveness as a service agency.

6. It is expected that all organizational decisions will be based on using appropriate date and feedback, through both internal and external sources.
